belated happy new year

well the year has started well with another great review for Tales of the Buddha before he got enlightened by pipe dream comics

the printed version with extras is coming out for the spring more news soon, it really looks fab Jamie Grant has given the book the same love and attention that he did working on All Star Superman, Alan reckons its his best humour work since his Lobo days and i've been told by many folk that they love my cartoon style for the book.

this pin up was drawn for Dave Elliott for a planned Sharky collection tpb i drew it based on a THOR cover by Jack King Kirby and tried to give it abit of Kirby magic in the art, Dave's a fan of the Buddha book so it was a pleasure to draw this for him .

DREDD 3D KARL URBAN IS THE LAW!

I watched Dredd 3d in Cardiff Vue cinema yesterday in Wales U.K , and i was one very happy art droid, to my mind it's THE best comic book adaption i've seen .

Karl Urban nailed it as Dredd Eastwood voice and all, Olivia Thirlby was perfect as Anderson.
Karl's version of Joe with the close up's reminded me of John M Burns version and Anderson reminded me of Arthur Ransom's version from the pages of 2000AD.

i had my doubts on 

the trailer for Mega City 1 but once the film rolled it made sense to make the city look grim, gritty, crumbling and totally realistic it added why  the drug slo-mo was so popular with the citizens a escape from the hard dark reality living in a hell hole.

a big thanks to the film company for the thank you at the end credits for all the creatives who have worked on Dredd in the comics 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine, a nice touch also great to see the creators of Dredd John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra have a big end creditat the end of the film.( carlos must have been happy with this movie)

so far it's had 100 % rating from the critics and 81% rating from joe public

so fingers crossed when it hits the states it will get the numbers for a sequel.

TANK GIRL SKETCHES DRAWN ON MY HOLS IN MALTA

When I was away on my hols to the wonderful Islands of Malta and Gozo, I saw online that Alan Martin was looking for a new Tank Girl artist! , i've always liked her crazy balls to the wall stories ,I guess I have missed the boat but I drew these for fun with no reference just by my memory, so enjoy how I would draw her and Booga .

Hi guys and gals, i've just joined deviantART in the hope it will spread my name and work out there to Editors and Publishers, This year has been very difficult trying to get work, i guess the recession and tightened belts hasn't helped.

the Malta Comic Con crew and guests 2011

I had the pleasure last year to attend the Malta comic con in Valletta , i was there as a guest you can read all about the convention and Tim's book launch on his excellent blog Malta comic con part 1 there are 4 parts to this mini saga write up ,but worth reading , Tim Perkins is a rare breed yes he's my friend , we first met many years ago at a convention and as Tim put's it we are ''a kindred spirit''.

Tim has a passion for life and comic storytelling and art for all ages which i have enjoyed sharing with him over the many years i've known him, he told me i would enjoy myself in Malta and i did so much in fact i plan to return there soon for a visit .

Now on to Tim's first book of Worlds end vol 1 The Riders on the Storm!
Tim worked on this project on and off for 7 yrs , his vision and passion was to produce a new saga that would appeal to all ages and be exciting and fun , i can say  Tim achieved his goal , i enjoyed the book alot, top production of print and binding by Print Media Productions Ltd, wonderful visuals , maps, end papers,behind the scenes features, great designs , a fast paced comic strip story (which made me itching to read book 2) what's the story? read  Lew Stringers excellent review
If you love fantasy/ sci-fi , good ol adventure with a dash of humour, stories you can read with your children then i highly recommend Tim's book .

news update

Sorry the blog has had so many passing of great talent reported , that's the problem getting older the people that mean something to me are getting older too and in some cases dying before their time.

I'm drawing a new adventure where Buddha helps out Santa which will be a 5 pager story again Alan Grant has written another very funny tale.

went to the Bristol comic Expo last week in the U.K met up with some old and new friends , it was nice to put faces to people i communicate with on twitter.

My next convention will be the Glasgow Comic Con next month where i hope i'll be able to show goodies from ''Age of  Heroes'' a project i've been working on for some time ,press release soon. 

TONY DEZUNIGA R.I.P

Another comic book legend passed away recently Tony Dezuniga Jonah Hex artistic creator , I grew up loving Tony's work on Savage Sword of Conan by Marvel , he drew the most beautiful women and had such a fantastic style, my brother would buy lots of b/w mags in the 70's and i got used to spotting certain artists styles i always enjoyed Tony's work, thanks for the entertainment sir and God bless.
