DICK GIORDANO R.I.P

very sad to hear that Dick Giordano has passed away at 77

i loved his art growing up reading Batman Green Arrow and Green Lantern,Wonder Woman as a artist and as a inker.

He was a very nice chap who gave me time in 1988 at UKCAC for a chat and he introduced his hot new talent to me the young and shy Mike Mignola

Dick was also a great Editor and Exec of DC comics a true great of the medium he'll leave a big hole in the industry but leaves a huge wealth of fantastic work.

TIGER STEEL BRACELET 2005

Thought i would show this first is my rough ideas of what images would appear on the metal bracelet

then you'll see my pencils for page 1 of the comic strip
and then the inked finished page
then the finished image that was used on the product.

i thought the idea to launch a range of jewellery based on a new comic character was a very cool idea

WASTED ISSUE 4 COVER BY DAVE TAYLOR

Another shameless plug for the adult humour title Wasted
featuring Tales of the Buddha before he got enlightened by Alan Grant and me,

the more people who buy the mag the more chance my Buddha book collection will happen so if you want a chuckle and want to support a small publisher you can order Wasted in Previews or buy direct from the website or buy a copy at a Menzies paper shop in the U.K

PETER GRAVES R.I.P

Very sad just read that Peter Graves has died aged 83 as a kid i loved watching him as Jim Phelps in Mission: Impossible r.i.p sir.

SPIDEY ROUGHS AND PENCILS FOR A COMMISSION

When I'm asked to draw a commission for a fan or client i tend to draw at least 4 different pics to show the character in different poses, then the client/fan can say which image they like best for me to then pencil this was for a birthday so Spidey is holding presents in his web bag, here's my pencils for the commission quite loose as i inked this.

Avatar Star Sam Worthington Is... Dan Dare?

saw this on bleedincool.com ,well he's got the nose and chin and he's starred in the biggest gross film of all time.
so the public have a taste for epic sci-fi and we now have the tech to have 9ft Treens on the big screen.

i would cast

Timothy Spall as Digby
Amanda Holden as Prof Peabody
Bernard Hill as Sir Hubert Guest
Andy Serkis as the Mekon

director? some one who has a love for the comic medium, i would like the guy that did Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow Kerry Conran he has a flare for retro goodness and Dare needs to look Hampson retro to look different enough to be not just another sci-fi film .

interesting to read Warner Bros are doing it as well

fingers crossed it will happen and be a good film
